They are so in charge. :D posted by: commontater (reply) post date: 09.10.06 (8:42 pm) So, here I am taking a gander through your blog.. You always seem to have something interesting to say and I enjoy learning more about you. Now, I'm quite taken by your new furkids and the great shots you managed to get which prompts me to ask you, how in the heck do you get pictures of kittens sleeping? This has always bothered me through the years mainly because I can't manage to get candid shots of my furkids. As soon as I walk in the room - pop - up goes their heads with their bodies following and with one long stretch they're in my lap or using my leg as a cat scratcher. I simply cannot sneak up on my critters.. hmmm.. I must make alot of noise walking around or they're up on their feet instantly because they don't trust me and want to watch me with their backs against the wall? Just kidding. I have a Siamese grey-point that I'M AFRAID OF, he takes swipes at me as I pass by, and recently took a swipe at me as I lowered my hand to pet his head and he hooked me one in the palm of my hand. I started recoiling when I noticed his arm was stretching out. Man, I had to extract that claw myself and I felt like hugging him, really hugging him, to death. I was so unglad to see him at that moment. I mentioned the incident to a friend recently and she told me, "oh, yah, Siamese are like that, didn't you know?" Geeze, and all this time I thought it was because we betrayed him by acquiring our latest dog. We named him Data, thinking he'd do the books for us and instead we got this belly-hanging, curmudgeon of a cat that eats ALL the time, swipes at me and my littlest dog. Oh, yah, I forgot, he throws us a dead, battered mouse at our feet every once in a while to help with the groceries, I guess. Years ago I inherited a sister-sister combo because the hag told me to pick judiciously because the one left was going to be drowned in the creek. sigh. some people. Data's brother Claude had to be put down recently because of paralysis. I stayed with Claude 'til the end, and it was one of the hardest things I've had to do. Call me CryBabyMan. Whose line was that anyway, I've forgotten. Now, I've talked your ear off about furkids and will resume reading some of your entries. And like you, I don't expect a comment to everything I write, even when it pertains to you. Btw, young love is a beautiful thing. PuC posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 09.11.06 (9:14 am) Reply to: commontater Ha! My, you have the gift of gab. Thank goodness. I tend to abridge my comments (as they ramble), and most folk find it a bit too tedious to consume. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to capture a perfect shot of the little rascals, only to have them either a) wake up and ruin the pose or b) glance at me and leave whatever cute position/thing they were in/doing (no doubt to spite me). I suspect we got lucky with these two because we got them so young. They could barely open their eyes when they came to live with us. They got used to falling asleep while we were carrying them. I've even got a shot of one of them sleeping, stretched out on their back in the palm of my hand. Dead asleep. It's weird. As I was reading about your grey-point, I was thinking, 'Does PuC know how typically disagreeable Siamese are?' I guess you figured that out. Haha. I find Siamese fascinating as more times than not, they tend to exhibit very human-like qualities, more so than their non-Siamese counterparts. Young love! Beh. I certainly don't add much youth to the equation, but we're still in our toddler phase, so I guess it's fitting. Thank you for spending a little time here. :) posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 09.11.06 (7:04 pm) Reply to: aliciarose Haha, yep. I agree. There just wasn't much choice when I was face to face with the little things not having a home. Funny how this stuff happens. So far, there aren't very hairy at all, but I imagine they are just getting warmed up. Believe it or not, there are diets out there that cut down tremendously on shedding. I had three cats for years who just flat out didn't shed. Anyway, thanks for stopping in, madam. It's been a while. :) posted by: Cutter (reply) post date: 09.12.06 (8:45 pm) Piddle rocks. posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 09.13.06 (8:03 am) Reply to: Cutter He tried to piddle in the corner of my room last night. I grabbed him, ran into the kitchen and he just kept on going.. creating a perfectly arched stream, while he just sat in my hand, chillin' - he's too darned cute to be angry with, so, I'm sure he'll do it again. If only I could capture that on film. Hee hee. posted by: commontater (reply) post date: 09.14.06 (12:55 pm) "Does Puc know how typically disagreeable Siamese are?" No. Please tell me more. It might help me decide something rather evil. No, just kidding. But I *am* interested in knowing more about Siamese cats. Oh, and the picture of the one stretched out in the palm of your hand would make some magazine very happy to publish :) posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 09.14.06 (1:18 pm) Reply to: commontater Well, I'm certainly no expert, but my limited experience with them (I house sat a Chocolate point regularly) has taught me that they are extremely demanding compared to other breeds, more like humans or dogs, if that makes *any* sense. Mine was quite standoffish at first, but after I passed some kind of approval test, he followed me all over the house and demanded my attention. And 'demanded' is putting it mildly.. more like stalking, really. He was also extremely vocal and loud and seemed to be expressing very specific messages to me. He usually said things like, 'Hey, I'm down here. Now pet me already, you slow and unnaturally large human.' (or something along those lines) He lived a couple of doors down from me and loved being outdoors at night, and had a fondness for sitting outside my bedroom window at 3:00 am, meowing insistently until I'd lean out and speak to him for a few minutes. I swear, if this had been my job, I'd have made a killing in overtime. So, long story even longer, Siamese are rather intense creatures. When they are irritated, they literally turn their backs on you and pee on something if you don't at least try to coddle them. I suspect males only allow their 'alpha human' to stare them down - I never got that far with 'Templeton.' I liked our status quo. As tempermental as they are, they love with equal fierceness. And that is all my knowledge of Siamese. :) posted by: devon (reply) post date: 09.25.06 (5:48 am) we should throw a few more pictures online. I was looking at him last night and Piddle is getting so big now! posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 09.25.06 (8:38 am) Reply to: devon :) Piddle Mountain. Definitely. Wish we'd gottena picture of him clinging to the back of the chair this morning.. hee hee.. posted by: Cutter (reply) post date: 09.29.06 (12:34 pm) I need to snag a picture of Piddle for my desktop. Not that I won't keep coming back here to look at them though. posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 09.30.06 (4:31 am) Reply to: cutter Haha, that rocks. I've got some more we're planning to post.. the little guy is getting bigger and giving Adderbury a good fight.. in fact, he starts some of them. I'll nudge Devon to load 'em up. :) posted by: akelso (reply) post date: 11.01.06 (8:53 pm) I'm so glad Cutter loves your Piddle pics, Lindy. They are truly priceless. Thanks for this! - Andrea posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 11.02.06 (8:06 am) Reply to: akelso *smile* Thanks, Andrea. How can Piddle not be cute, right? Hee hee. Everyday, he delights us by just being himself. His big sis is a show stealer too. I think Devon (my husband) posted some more just today on his own blog. They are at devon.tblog. com if you want to grin a bit. :) |
