Cars, gardens and cats.
Much activity in the last couple of months.
Beginning of May saw my car totalled.
Think I was annoying about cell phones before?
Yeah.
I started a new site, not only for my high school class, but the entire school. It's going gangbusters.
I'm also organizing my 20th reunion.
We don't have a home to go back to. Overseas brats, D.O.D., military, civil service kids, etc. Hence, the need, or desire, for all of this business.
The site's been running for about six weeks and we're about to hit 500 members.
There's so much activity that I find I have to duck out and disappear for a while. It's intense.
I'm especially enjoying the older generations. Classmates from the 60s and 70s. Their pictures, memories, recollections... it makes the younger ones realize how cyclical it all is.
My garden is going nuts. Squash. Good grief! They're so happy! And I'm so tired of eating squash! Haha! We're finally managing to produce other things.. green beans, corn, cantaloupes, I really have no idea how the potatoes are doing... they're just under there, doing their thing.. this has been quite the learning experience. Hopefully, the avocado tree will continue to do its thing..
Next year's garden will be much more efficient, now that I'm getting a handle on it..
But the squash! They're huge! Who knew! I guess large suppliers pick the squash while it's still small and not very ripe, allowing for them to ripen on the way.. that's why the ones at the store are so dinky. Mine? Bigger than my forearm. I'm not kidding.
Managed to get a couple of scooters that get 102 miles to the gallon. The light rail is about to make its debut where I live. I'm six miles from the station. I'll be turning that parking pass in with a twinkle in my eye and a grin on my face.
Not only will I be saving money, drastically decreasing my gas consumption and lessening the amount of time I spend driving... I'll be gaining time to unwind, read, maybe talk to new people who travel by train, and I'll no longer be in the road rage business.
The scooters are also turning out to be a lot of fun for all of us.. they have extended seats for two riders... we each throw a kid on the back and go tootling around the neighborhood. It's quite a lot of fun and a great way to get the girls to their friends' houses when they want some time to play..
Kittens.
We've got kittens.
Again.
Man. I swear, cats talk. I don't mean they meow so cutely that you want to hold them, I mean they TALK. To each other. And I know what they're saying.
'Pssst.. OJ, there's a house up the hill that will feed you and your whole crew. All you gotta do is be cute.'
So, in addition to my old Katie, who is well into her 18th year, we also have our kittens we rescued from a couple of years ago, Adderbury and Piddle, who have gotten too big for their britches, figuratively and literally.. and then there's Nimoy, the old soul we rescued a couple of towns away.. and now... wait for it...
Momma Six... Melbourne, Ewok, Cliche' and Sulu.

They live in our master bathroom and have been slowly taking over our bedroom, and soon to be the rest of the house.. we've got cats everywhere! Who needs to start a cat rescue when THEY come to YOU!
I'm sure I've forgotten some things..
